| IMAN Career Development Initiative (ICDI) Seeks Volunteer Computer Instructors
IMAN Career Development Initiative (ICDI) is seeking volunteer instructors (English and/or Spanish speaking) to teach basic computer skills to a diverse adult student population on the Southside of Chicago. Our instructors don't need to have a background in education or teaching experience, just a desire to reach out and make a change in our inner-city community.
ICDI will offer a one-day training session for interested instructors. All instructors will be provided with PowerPoint presentations, lesson plans, and student handouts for each day of class. Our next ICDI session will begin in the end of July 2008. For those who may be interested in enrolling in a computer calls, please call the ICDI Coordinator.
Over the last seven years, IMAN has offered free computer classes as part of our mission to promote empowerment and professional development opportunities for our community members. These classes have served as an extremely valuable resource for the residents of Chicago's Southside, providing general computer skills that enable residents to expand their job opportunities.
Teaching these classes proves to be a rewarding experience, especially for those interested in but not limited to education, computer science, and social work. The computer skills required of our instructors are minimal.
