On Saturday January 31st IMAN will make a historic step in these very historic times. We will host our first Community Café outside Chicago in the space profoundly associated with one of the most extraordinary and influential American Muslims of the 20 Century. The Audubon Ballroom, now
the Malcolm X & Dr. Betty Shabazz Memorial and Educational Center, will be the location for a dynamic Community Café line-up on Saturday January 31st where inspirational artistic expression will intersect with a larger grassroots vision for community connection and activism. IMAN will also use the energy, relationships-building and excitement behind this effort to formally launch a national feasibility study. We ask that IMAN leaders and supporters across the country keep this effort in your prayers and/or join us on this important occasion.

IMAN's Community Café, established in 2003, is one of the few Muslim-led efforts that provides a space for socially conscious people to collectively celebrate and engage in diverse and creative artistic expression. Community Café allows for community members to utilize the arts as a tool for cross-cultural communication, civic engagement and social change.
