Immigration Rights Committie
IMAN’s organizing and advocacy work is also anchored in its commitment to Comprehensive Immigration Reform, an agenda that grew out of IMAN’s direct work with Latino Day Laborers on Chicago’s Southwest Side. This work resulted in the recovery of $10,000 in stolen wages for day laborers.
In Demonstration of its opposition to raids, deportations and basic human rights violations facing Latino and other immigrants, IMAN mobilized over 150 people to walk along side the hundreds of thousands of Chicago residents at each of the four historic marches during 2006. IMAN’s constituents are the people that are affected by these issues and IMAN supports the Latino community on efforts of immigration reform. |
