IMAN’s art studio which hosts a number of free or low-cost ceramics classes and community engagements led by local artists.
Growing out of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s vision for a “Beloved Community,” the Beloved Community Ceramics Studio is an arts space for neighbors to create, build, and heal together. This studio is the first of its kind on Chicago’s South Side; an artisan workshop that convenes local artists and community members to craft unique ceramic works that can inspire both creativity and entrepreneurship. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Living Memorial, produced collaboratively inside the Studio, can be seen on permanent display in Chicago’s Marquette Park.
The Beloved Community Ceramics Studio offers a combination of free and affordable classes and workshops including ceramics and art therapy. Low-cost access to the Studio is available to community members, art students and local creatives alike.
