Family Physician
The Inner-city Muslim Action Network (IMAN) is a community organization that fosters health, wellness and healing in the inner-city by organizing for social change, cultivating the arts, and operating a holistic health center. IMAN was incorporated in 1997 in direct response to the prevalence of violence, poverty, social inequity, and health disparities on Chicago’s Southwest Side. Today, IMAN’s work includes youth leadership development; housing revitalization; leadership development and on-the-job training for formerly incarcerated men and women; arts and culture programming; food access interventions with inner-city stores; a weekly farmer’s market; and a comprehensive community health center open six days a week. Our Health Center is a newly designated FQHC look a-like, providing primary care, dental services, and behavioral health therapy. We believe that health care is a human right which should be accessible to everyone regardless of citizenship, insurance status, religion, gender, race or for any other reason, and our team is intentionally consists all cultural and religious back grounds.

Job Purpose:

The Family Physician serves as a primary care provider for patients across the age and gender spectrum, offering a wide range of healthcare services that place a strong emphasis on wellness and prevention while also providing high-quality chronic disease management.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide and manage direct patient care including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment
  • Triage patients to differentiate between immediate and less urgent care
  • Order diagnostic tests such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests and interpret test results
  • Perform minor outpatient surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures
  • Prescribe pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate
  • Instruct and counsel patients regarding adherence to prescribed therapeutic regimens, with an emphasis on preventative care and disease management
  • Communicate with patients regarding testing results, follow-up care, and additional information
  • Complete clinical documentation of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues through patient encounter in EMR system that is accurate, high quality, and completed in a timely manner
  • Participate in clinical meetings and compliance trainings
  • Serve as a supervising physician for mid-level providers
  • Participate in required CME courses and perform CME credits to maintain license
  • Should be available to work extended hours, including some weekends
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (MD or equivalent)
  • Must be board certified and have an active, unrestricted, Illinois license to practice
  • 3+ years of post-residency clinical experience preferred
  • Current BLS certification
  • Experience with electronic medical records and proficiency with various computer based applications
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time, as well as to make balanced and objective decisions with the highest degree of integrity
  • Highly motivated, self-directed professional with strong organizational skills and comfort working independently on a daily basis
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and courteously deal with patients, families, and co-workers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to IMAN’s core values, including experience working with diverse ethnic, religious, and racial communities.
  • Multi-lingual preferred (Spanish, English, Arabic)


  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work for extended hours with a computer.

Pay: $160,000.00 – $190,000.00 per year
